The Class 05 is a small locomotive with a big personality. Introduced in the 1950s as part of the BR Modernisation Plan, these Hunslet-built shunters were a common sight in the docks and yards of the Eastern Region. While their mainline career was relatively short, their rugged construction ensured a long second life in private industry and on heritage lines.
