I love the class 33, and these models capture the look of them brilliantly. A fabulous addition to my collection.
Now to chip them and put them to work on the nuclear flask train!
Outstanding value and a win for the customer
This Heljan Class 33/0 twin pack, featuring 33025 and 33030 in DRS Minimodal livery, is outstanding value at £189.98 for two locomotives, working out at just £94.99 per loco.
There has been plenty of debate within the hobby about Heljan and Accurascale selling direct to customers, but from a consumer’s perspective it is hard to argue with results like this. These are well-detailed, smooth-running locomotives that not long ago would have cost substantially more through traditional retail channels.
Accurascale deserve credit for backing the Heljan brand and finding a way to get quality models into customers’ hands at prices many thought were no longer possible by passing on the dealer margin to the consumer. While some in the industry may not like the direct-sales approach, the reality is that the customer benefits when savings are passed on rather than disappearing into the supply chain. Originally, Rails of Sheffield had this pack listed at around £298, whereas it is now just £189.98 direct from Heljan. That is a massive saving.
The locos arrived within 48 hours, both run beautifully, and the overall quality is excellent. At under £95 per locomotive in this twin pack, the value is simply exceptional.
Well done to Heljan and Accurascale. This is a great business strategy to rebuild confidence in the Heljan brand, especially when some online criticism of Heljan motor quality now looks unfair based on how well these models perform. A great result for the customer and an easy five stars.
Picked these up at a great price and they are a pair of cracking models. I’m a sucker for DRS livery and glad to have seen these on offer
