Detailed Description
Introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1921 to a design by Nigel Gresley, these powerful 2-8-0s were built to haul heavy mineral trains. Several batches were built over a 22 year period by the GNR and LNER, with numerous improvements such as better cabs and bigger tenders. Heljan's model depicts the later '02/3' and '0 2/4' variants.

Model locomotive that "runs very slowly" and "has the looks of the real thing." Customers praised improved paint finish and black handrails. Some reported tracking issues with bogies and wheels. Generally runs well on 3rd radius layouts, though customers note missing cab details and heavy tender weight.
I could not resist this at the price I could get it (owing to the 30% off that I was offered). The back of the cab on my version is nice and straight. It is a heavy loco. It runs well on my 3rd radius layout.
unlike Heljan this one no so good front bogie will not stay on the line some of the driving wheels will not stay on the lines so i can't really run this loco but my other Heljan locos i have 12 in all are all perfect so i can't moan too much

Well like the previous model run,of which i have all six B.R.ones,this one as its faults,plus points, paint finish much better,minus,no cab doors,no cab footplate,still not easy to disconect loco from tender,to attend to those ommisions,plus fit the missing regulater in cab,the tender weight is far too heavy,what i do is put a bachmann 21 pin to 8 in add a Hornby TTS A3 sound,with a good speaker,and like my other 02s,you get a powerful,superb runner,good looking. With work you get a great loco,but for maybe a lot of people they do not have the skill to do this work,up to now i have bought 4 of the new run,and i intend to buy "3901" next,i love the 02,but it got a bad name from the first run,but to me it as so many plus points.
