It’s been a little while since our last update on the ‘OO’ gauge Class 44 ‘Peaks’, but progress has continued steadily behind the scenes and they are now nearing production readiness.

As we prepare for delivery of these highly anticipated models later this year, our factory is completing final decoration refinements based on feedback from earlier samples (pictured).

These updates include correctly coloured grilles, improved printing of BR crests, numbers and arrows, ensuring the highest possible finish.

We'll share the revised samples once they arrive, but join us on the journey with the Class 44s and see where we've got to so far!

We're also launching our DCC Sound-fitted examples too - we have worked closely with our friends at ESU to create a bespoke Loksound-fitted Class 44 that accurately emulates the prototype in every way.

ESU are the leading global specialist in digital sound and functions for model railways, so we're proud to work with them to bring these tasty machines alive in 4mm scale.

The model features a wide range of detail variations to reflect changes made across the ten locomotives between 1959 and 1980, including differences in sandbox and boiler water tank arrangements, bodyside grilles, underframe tanks, and boiler filler hatches.

Distinctive touches such as bufferbeam pipework, unique bonnet-top handrails on D4 Great Gable, and the slotted bodyside grilles fitted to D9 and D10 are also faithfully reproduced.

Fine detailing continues throughout, with separate lifting brackets, pipework and roof fittings, while performance is delivered by a smooth-running chassis with centrally mounted motor and twin flywheels, alongside a 21-pin DCC interface, factory-fitted speakers and six independently switchable lighting functions.
