No. 2395 famously made its public debut at the LNER’s 1925 Stockton & Darlington centenary celebrations, and over a century later this remarkable locomotive is being honoured with a unique, high-specification model for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Developed using original works drawings and photographs, the range captures the locomotive throughout its 30-year career, reflecting key modifications such as changes to the smokebox, bunker, handrails, cab and pipework.

The line-up also includes the distinctive oil-fired variant, complete with its modified bunker, turbo generator and working electric headlight.

Following extensive testing in a wide range of scenarios and different layout environments we have made small changes to the motor/mechanism set-up to further improve the model’s performance.

Despite its size, our ‘U1’ model lives up to the Beyer-Garratt principles of flexibility and powerful but nimble performance on lines with sharp curves and steep gradients, including Radius 2 trackwork.

Our friends at ESU have curated two bespoke DCC sound projects for this model, covering both the coal-fired and oil-fired versions.

These projects replicate the unique sonic experience of articulated steam locomotives and provide the perfect finishing touch for these truly unique models.
