Class 47 - 7mm

The British Railways Class 47 diesel locomotive was introduced in the early 1960s as part of Britain’s rapid shift from steam to diesel traction. Built by Brush Traction BR Crewe Works, 512 were produced, making it one of the largest locomotive classes in the United Kingdom. Designed as a mixed-traffic engine, it hauled express passenger trains, parcels, and heavy freight nationwide. Although early engines suffered reliability problems, later modifications improved performance. Renumbered under the TOPS system in the 1970s, Class 47s became a sight on main lines and routes, remaining in service for decades with some still operating today.
