Excellent news model really looking forward to running it and buying a sound fitted B R Blue version.
The loco looks superb however in my opinion the sound is very wrong i intend to buy the blue version non sound and fit a separate sound chip
Fantastic model and runs so smoothly. Very very difficult to remove body for decoder installation without breaking off parts , even using all the right tools . Underframe detail is great . The pantograph had virtually no adhesive holding it in place and fell off during decoder installation.
Very pleased with the Maroon warship. Manufactured to a high standard and runs superb. Well done Heljan.
I just had to have the original D800, but sadly it only ran for ten years, the first three were regarded as being non-standard. The regular Class 42s didn't last much longer. Great looking model.
I'm just old enough to remember seeing the Warships in blue, so this model brings back a few memories. Nice shade of Rail Blue too.
Lovely looking loco. Ran well right out of the box. Only problem came when l installed the decode. I used a AE Models decoder but this didn’t produce the correct functions. Speaking to Heljan was told l needed to use an ESU decoder. Thus the fitted one was now redundant and had to buy an ESU one. There was nothing in the manual to explain this.

Nice model, but not perfect. For me it eclipses the previous Bachmann and Lima models
Appearance wise it looks good. The sound, however was too loud so I had to adjust the CV to a reasonable level. It also derailed a lot, maybe because of the extremely fine scale wheels and insufficient flexing of the bogies.
I've added RNR to my fleet, always wanted that one, and it comes in 1962/63 mode, with original disc headcode and added yellow panel. Perfect.
I was very pleased when Heljan announced this version of the class 42 having visited Germany and having seen one or their V200’s in the flesh.
This particular model is presented within a presentation box that differs from the other class 42’s which in my opinion makes this model a collectible.
To my surprise, the model is quite heavy and built to a high standard, the detail and livery application are extremely good indeed.
My particular model is a DCC sound fitted version, equipped with an ESU Loksound5 decoder and an impressive bass reflex speaker, the sound project incorporated into this model is extremely good with 32 DCC functions available, some of these are configurable too.
I am also impressed with the lighting arrangements which include white marker lights, a single red tail light, two cab lights in each end of the locomotive, and engine room lighting.
An extensive accessory bag is also included.
One minor niggle, out of the box this model ran at slow speed with a slightly jerky motion, however I was able to correct this by placing the model on a piece of track, then reprogramming CV54 to zero.
I am extremely pleased with this purchase and I believe Heljan have produced a very fine example of the class 42 Warship.

Ran my class 122 bubble car yesterday to test as there has been a lot of criticism regarding these locos but found mine was running well after around half hour of running in and getting quieter, also the detail and glazing is excellent so I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to the deltic being released thanks Heljan A*****
