Klasse 42 - DB Rot/Grau - V220 021 - Spur OO

A wonderful rendition of the locomotive with smooth driving capabilities and a lot of interesting features.

In the DB livery, this is a stunningly beautiful loco. It's weight and the 5-pole motor is more than powerful enough to pull a rake of at least 5 coaches up a 4% incline that involves going around 1st radii curves. First radii curves present no problem to this (or any other of locos that I run on my layout.)
It is a very silent and smooth runner except at a crawl. On speed-steps 1 and 2 is it very "coggy", even after running in. But, at speed-step 3 and greater, the running smooths out. Hence the 4-star rating. Also, it is very irritating that I cannot access the cab and engine room lighting because you have used AUX 6 and 7 which are not normally supported by the Zen Black chip I've used. I guess I will have to invest in a LokPilot chip and possibly remap(?) to access these features.

Lovely model. Captures the shape of the original. Comprehensive detail pack. Nice and heavy weight. Brilliant livery rendition with typical German lettering at solebar level. Striking box design. Here’s to the next batch !

Reall happy so far, looks good runs well and arrived in one piece. Nothing has fallen off yet. Really like it. Paint scheme is quite striking.

Weiter so.

looks really good going around my layout with some maroon coaches in tow. really easy to swap the front valance for one without the coupling hook. not so easy to stick the vacuum hoses on (I used superglue) one was very reluctant to grab, and difficult to locate its hole (Under the RH Buffer) Lighting has a very realistic brightness, one suggestion: it would have been nice to have etched nameplates.

Excellent model with a high quality finish, runs well on my layout and hauls a decent rake of coaches even with my track gradients. The only issue that I have is with the lighting function config for DCC, this only works with premium cost ESU decoders. Some might not bother about this cost but I think the additional cost is excessive and unnecessary, the Accurascale group has fitted other locos with switches to enable functionality with other brands of decoder. This loco ran very well with a budget decoder but had only headlights. Would I recommend? Yes for DC and DCC but be aware of the extra decoder cost, not everyone wants sound fitted locos!

Still in box. Layout in storage after burst watermain flooded house. The 5 stars are for the picture. The box will be opened when I take it to my grandson next week.

Yes I’m very impressed with this model. It looks great and runs very smoothly. I have the DCC ready version. Have heard that the sound package is not so good. I hope all future models under the new Heljan situation will be this good and am looking forward to the LNER railcard.

Fantastic looking model with enough weight to ensure good traction. Gear train seems smooth and quiet, with an equally nice lighting package supported by switches on the bottom of the locomotive. Glad I pre-ordered as I was tempted to order a second livery, but all sold out! All in all very pleased with this purchase from Heljan.

Fantastic model, if this is the standard from Heljan now Accurascale have ownership I shall be buying more.
