Customers praised this OO scale locomotive for running "very smoothly" straight from the box with excellent detail and value. Most noted strong performance and quiet operation. Some reported issues with buffer beam details interfering with NEM couplings, loose parts in packaging, and minor quality control concerns. Overall described as "great price" with good pulling power.

Im in no way an expert on trains but I do really like this model, its well detailed and comes in a great mix of liveries. For the price its a bargain!
This is one of 5 i've bought. Very happy.

At the price this is an absolute bargain, finely detailed and captures the look of the real thing. It was easy to install an HM7000 sound decoder and speaker although a second speaker would no doubt be an improvement. However Heljan clearly have a quality control problem. The first model had been damaged at one end during packing. A replacement was sent very promptly but had clearly suffered exactly the same damage but less severely and was repairable. It also has a handrail missing at one end. Hopefully Accurascale can sort out these problems and produce quality models at a good price.

I do not normally run BR Green trains however this was such a good price it was worth getting just for something different on my layout. Looks good and runs well.

Well it was a pleasure to get this in the mail. Very easy to fit the decoder and it ran silky smooth from the box, which is nice. This model has been criticised for not having brass bearings. It is not a criticism i agree with as the right grade of engineering plastic is perfectly satisfactory for a model like this. I haul seven coaches around a mid size layout and that i suspect is as much as most owners do. If it was running continuously on a giant display layout with heavy trains, maybe it would be a fair criticism. But most owners don't use it like that. I am sure the bearings will be fine for my needs. It was also criticised for being a weak puller. i have to agree it is not strong but it does do what I need.
I really like having all the buffer beam fitted when i open the box. I heartily detest having to fit shiny black plastic parts onto a shiny black plastic buffer beam, that is if i can even figure out where it all goes. Yes there will have to be some minor surgery with nippers but I only have to take the minimum off to get the coupling swing I need and that is a quick and painless process compared with fitting it all. The print on mine was not as sharp as I would like but it generally looks the part. Yes Overall I am happy with it but there are areas where Heljan can improve; a stronger motor and crisper printing being two.

My third purchase of one of these Class 47’s within the last month - such great value for money, smooth performance, heavy die-cast chassis

The ubiquitous class 47, looked more elegant with its original small yellow face, but this full yellow version was much more typical.

Great model as I would expect. The engine was well packed as well; the only issue is one bogie frame falls off each time I run it. Not a big enough issue to return for repair so will fix it at some point when I have the right kit by me

Excellant model runs very smoothly.

A lovely well detailed model. It runs very well.
Just one observation. The prefitted buffer details (pipes and chain link coupling) foul the NEM coupling when you come to fit it. It would be useful to have had a set of plain buffer beams supplied with the model.
Still a great loco at a great price!

Excellent model and performance really good straight from box. Very good price for a new loco which made me purchase it to add to my fleet of now 5 47s. This my first Heljan 47 gor a while. Have two 27s and a 26 bought prior to takeover

I’ve bought five of the Class 47/57 models, including three during the recent £99.99 offer. I know this particular model is subject to some pedantic criticism, but to the everyday modeller they are excellent value for money. Sturdy motor, with plenty of pulling power and lots of detail. I’m very happy with my purchases and might even get another!

Two parts were loose in the box, one of the small yellow hand rails from the front of the loco and another piece I have to identify. Apart from that all OK.

Loco runs lovely but number lights only work one end the other end is just lines. Impossible to use couplings without removing detail parts from buffers.

Really pleased with my purchase, a beautiful runner and looks well against my other class 47s from different manufacturers. I will definitely be buying more of them.

Really good model great runner, just the nem connection. Good price which allows for this minor glitch. Very happy.

Locomotive runs smoothly and quietly from the box, one bogie was covered in light oil on unboxing.

Yes I am very happy with my purchase of the green class 47. In comparison with other manufacturers representations I think it holds its own, but that's just my opinion. It runs smoothly and have found no faults so far and at the price it's very good value for money. I also appreciated the prompt and safe delivery. Many thanks

Despite obvious problems with the front width being too narrow andthe two engine roof panals when there should be four. For the money now asked they are a good buy as the Loco performs very well. The fact that the pipes are factory applied is brilliant as it is easier to romeve than to apply them. this can then allow one end for the tension coupler.

Superb Class 47 model: new tooling with improved headcode and open fan grilles - absolutely top notch Heljan!
